Latham Hi-Tech Hybrids Introduces Hybrid Alfalfa
SHEFFIELD, Iowa – March 31, 2008 – Latham Hi-Tech Hybrids is offering hybrid alfalfa with the patented msSunstra® technology for spring planting.
“Hybrid alfalfa creates a tremendous amount of value for growers, so adding it to our product offering is another example of how Latham Hybrids works to help customers maximize more profit per acre,” says John Latham, president of Latham Hi-Tech Hybrids.
Technology is critical to maximize yield and profits, adds Latham, and hybrid alfalfa is a proven technology. Years of testing show a 10 to 15% yield advantage over leading conventional brands. A second advantage is that hybrid alfalfa plants are stronger, so they can be harvested at an earlier bud stage with less risk of stand loss than conventional plants. In addition, the hybrid plants have a longer growing season. They green up faster in the spring and regrow faster after being cut in the summer.
Latham’s new product, Latham Hi-Tech Forage 9500, delivers all those advantages. A hybrid alfalfa with the msSunstra technology, LH Forage 9500 offers outstanding yield potential and superior forage quality for increased returns per acre. It provides excellent winter hardiness and great persistence for extended stand life. Faster drydown and finer stems, which cattle prefer, are other added features. Hybrid alfalfa with the msSunstra technology also shows better resistance to drought.
“Since the success of our family business depends on the success of our customers businesses, we’re motivated to create partnerships that give Midwest farmers access to the best traits and technology available on the market,” says Latham. “We’re extremely excited about this opportunity that allows us to offer hybrid alfalfa with the breakthrough msSunstra technology.”
