Latham Hi-Tech Hybrids Introduces 24 New Products for 2008

SHEFFIELD, Iowa – August 13, 2007 – Latham Hi-Tech Hybrids will expand its revolutionary customer-loyal seed corn business model in 2008 with the addition of 24 new hybrids and industry-leading service offerings.

The 24 new Latham hybrids for 2008 feature traits from Monsanto, DuPont, Syngenta, and Dow among others. Latham will offer a total of 56 hybrid varieties in 2008, including hybrids carrying Monsanto “Processor Preferred” designation, identifying them as having high fermentable corn (HFC) or highly extractable starch (HES), prized by the ethanol industry.
 
Latham Hybrid’s approach to delivering what works, regardless of where it comes from, has given their customers the unique opportunity to select a seed genetic package and then have several options for the traits connected to that package.
 
For example, the 2008 Latham lineup includes seeds with the same genetic package — a 110-day maturity corn to name just one — available with traits developed by rival companies:  Monsanto and Dow AgroSciences.
 
“There’s no way a Dow salesperson recommends a Monsanto trait to his or her customer — and vice versa. We, however, offer both and select the one that we believe will perform the best given an individual customer’s situation,” Latham said. “We just focus on what’s the best for each individual customer.”
 
The approach makes Latham Hybrids one of a handful of companies in the industry that can offer similar genetic packages in varieties that feature traits from rival seed technology companies.
